This is a photograph of a Chinese couple likely in their 70’s. They were walking through a public garden and decided to take time out to read the placard on a monument. The clothes they are wearing reflect back to the communist rule years of Mao Zedong (1949 - mid 1970’s). Many older Chinese still wear these plain outfits. As for younger Chinese, they have a taste for western and some pre-communist Chinese fashions ... they would not be caught dead in a “Mao jacket”. I think the older generations in their “Mao jackets” do much to flavor the China scene. I hope they and so many things “China old” do not go away.
