Older Chinese Apartments

The above apartments were constructed about 20 years ago and hence are a little “dated”. With China’s rapid modernization has come the construction of many new ultra-modern structures including apartment buildings. In fact, in the background of the above photo you can spot a much newer addition to Shanghai’s cityscape. Aside from structure specifics, it is quite common to spot the family laundry hanging out from a window to dry. Chinese have adopted the use of washing machines but not yet the use of clothes dryers. On a side note, many city dwellers are busy buying modern new apartments and decorating them since their incomes have reached new levels and the government is offering many incentives too.
